Recovery time after STITCHES for deep cut in lips.

Resolved Question:

My friend has a deep cut on the upper lip under the flap. the cut split his lip in the middle but did not slice through the skin just underneath is damaged. he got stitches but wondered what is the recovery time. there is a hole there that I can see will that close up, he said the doctor told him the small hole will never close is that possible?? I attached a few photos to give you an idea of the cut. You can see the progression, the last picture is from today and the cut appears to be healing. Will he always have this hole under his lip?? the cut is 5 days old

Face has very good blood supply.So, healing in fact will be faster.
The hole will be closed.It may take another 2 weeks for complete healing.

Thank you for the follow up it was very informative and put my mind at ease. I just discovered today that he never got stitches to assist with the healing. So now I feel we are back at square one will thiis whole close is the wound healing as it should. Also will he have a deformed lip or puffed lip forever. The lip is puffed on one side.. Healing time now to date is 1 week

The purpose of stitches is to bring the cut edges nearer so that healing will be faster.The wound will heal even without stitches,but it will take some time.
The hole will be closed in course of time.
The lip may become uneven after complete healing.But,it can be known after few weeks only.If it becomes very uneven, please consult a Plastic surgeon for correction.
