Samll itchy red spots, rashes in thigh. Treatment?

Resolved Question:

I have developed two small red spots/rashes on my inner right and back left thigh. They itch slightly but do not appear to be fluid filled and are not scabbing over. These spots have recurred elsewhere on my thighs/buttocks a few times since January and usually go away in a week or so. Again, they have never burst/scabbed. My concern is that they could be herpes from an encounter a year ago. Following that encounter, I had what I believe was jock itch/scrotum redness for several months but that went away. I have no other symptoms. I was tested type specific igg for hsv1 and hsv2 a year after the possible exposure and results were negative but I'm still weirded out by these spots. Any insight into if these could be herpes? If not, what could they be and why do they reoccur?

Hello

Thanks for your query at DoctorSpring.com. I can understand your concern. I reviewed the pictures.

It doesn't seem to be herpes. In herpes there are clusters of fluid filled lesions. This seems to be bacterial infection of the skin. These are solitary lesions which are not fluid filled.

I would recommend application of Mupirocin cream twice a day on the lesions.

These lesions can happen at random and could be seen in inner thighs where there is friction and occlusion with a hot and humid environment.

If you are getting recurrent lesions it would be best to get your blood sugar levels tested.

Please let me know if you have any queries. Take care

Thanks for the reply. I'm just concerned that they have recurred. So herpes couldnt manifest itself like these spots?

Hello

Thanks for your reply.

Herpes presents as a cluster of fluid filled blisters. In the picture it doesn't look like herpes. However, it would be best to consult a dermatologist in person who can examine you.

I would recommend application of Mupirocin cream for the time being.

Take care
