Stomach problems with persistent nausea and marijuana use

Resolved Question:

Since around last thanksgiving I have been having stomach problems. I can hardly eat anything. I can be starving then ill take three bites and be full and/or start to feel queezy. My heart starts beating pretty fast when this happens and i kinda feel anxiety. I have no appetite. Ill be sitting there starving but crave nothing and gag at the thought of food. The only thing that seems to help is marijuana.

Also i think its related, A lot of times when my girlfriend and I start messing around I get queezy. I've actually thrown up in my mouth a few times when we first start having sex. I know its not cause i'm nervous we've had sex 100s of times. Its so frustrating!

someone please help end this nightmare of mine! I keep loosing weight and I always feel sick and lazy Im starting to be known for my stomach problems I just want this to be gone!

I am a 20 year old male and currently weigh 138lbs nearly 6' tall.

Hello,

Thank you for the consult at DoctorSpring.

Your symptoms suggest dyspepsia, causing lack of appetite and fullness along with impaired gastro intestinal motility which explains your throwing up. This suggests you have pathology in the upper GI tract, possibly in the stomach or duodenum. The most common reason for this is Peptic Ulcer disease. If you have risk factors like stress or irregular food habits you are at high risk. There could be also associated bacteria called H.Pylori. Other causes like a Gastric outlet obstruction can also cause these symptoms. But peptic ulcer is more common and more likely.
Marijuana relieving your symptoms is associated with its appetite stimulant property (used in prescription form in few cases of AIDS). But using non-prescription marijuana will further complicate your situation as it can cause anxiety and delusions apart from rebound anorexia (lack of appetite) and depression.
I would recommend the following steps now
1. Avoid spicy and irritant foods
2. Take an OTC anti-ulcer medication like Prilosec once daily, just before sleep for 14 days
3. Have meals regularly at regular intervals (no skipping)
4. Consult a Gastroenterologist for further evaluation and treatment. You may require an Endoscopy and H.Pylori tests. Further tests might be needed depending upon the finding in the endoscopy.

Hope this helps.
Please feel free to ask followup queries.
Thank you
