Tremors with BENIGN REMITTING MS on GABAPENTIN, AMITRYPTILLINE.

Resolved Question:

I have MS for the last 15 years. I was diagnosed at age 44 with benign remitting MS. I have taken gabapentin and amitriptyline to manage my symptoms. Once or twice a year I get periods of extreme fatigue and know I must rest until it passes.

In the last 6 months I have noticed I keep dropping things out of my hand and also my balance is off. In the last 4 weeks I have been experiencing hand tremors and leg tremors and now I am getting this nearly every day. When they occur I feel very weak and my legs feel wobbly. I have not experienced this before so it is a new symptom for me.

I have had my blood glucose tested through monitoring and found out today my glucose level is normal. So I know the tremors are not caused by low blood sugar.

Can you please tell me if the tremors and weakness can be caused by my MS. Is this common in MS patients and are they ways to manage it?

Hello,
Thank you for your consult at DoctorSpring.com.
A vaginal ultrasound that is clear pretty much rules out ovarian cancer.
Yes, vaginal atrophy does explain the spotting, post coital spotting, the discharge and the pain during intercourse.
Local estrogen gels and creams should mitigate the problem.
There is no need to insist on a CA 125 test in absence of any ovarian mass.
Relax.
All the best & Please feel free to discuss further.
