Will VERSED, FENTANYL cause bad reaction for ENDOSCOPY, SIGMOIDOSCOPY.

Hello, Tomorrow I am having an endoscopy and a sigmoidoscpy and I am terrified. I know that the doctor will be giving me Versed and Fentanyl. I am so afraid of having a bad reaction to the medication. I especially don't want to feel the tube down my throat and I do not want to feel nauseous after. I think that the fentanyl has a possibility of making me nauseous. Could they do the procedure without this med? Do I need it because the procedure is so painful?
