BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Chris Berney’s specialties include advanced laparoscopic (keyhole), obesity, gastrointestinal and endocrine surgery.  He also performs endoscopy and colonoscopy. He is Supervisor of Surgical Training at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital and is an active member of the N.S.W. Regional Subcommittee of the Board in General Surgery.  He is also Conjoint Senior Lecturer with the University of New South Wales.

Having Wide expertise in General Surgery, with recognition as a Specialist in General Surgery from Switzerland (FMH) in 1997 and from Australia (FRACS) in 2002, Dr. Berney gained recognition of training in gastrointestinal endoscopy (GESA) in 2002. Since year 2000, he has been concentrating on the development of advanced laparoscopic surgery at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital. As a supervisor of surgical training and conjoint A/Professor at the University of N.S.W., his goal is to promote his work and share his expertise as a consultant surgeon, both regionally and internationally.
