BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Ramachandran has been performing procedures in Gastrointestinal and HPB Surgical Oncology since 2008. This initially  involved  open  approaches  to  Oesophagectomy,  Gastrectomy,  Colectomy,  Whipple’s procedure,  radical  Cholecystectomy,  Hepatectomy  etc  to  name  a  few.  Subsequently,  he has  been performing a  few of  these procedures by  the  laparoscopic  technique.

His present endeavour is  to develop skills which will enable me to perform hepatic resections in patients with compromised liver function  i.e  cirrhosis, with minimal morbidity  and  zero mortality  as well  as  to obtain  skills  in  liver transplantation which  is the only option  for patients with Hepatocellular malignancy and end stage liver disease.

He has been actively involved in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students at both Calicut Medical College as well as Yenepoya Medical College. Dr. Ramachandran has also been invited to deliver lectures on various surgical topics as well as demonstrate techniques for general surgeons. He has participated and presented surgical audits during his stint at AIIMS, New Delhi. 

Dr. Ramachandran has invested  considerable  time  and  effort  into  establish  a  training  centre  for Minimally  invasive surgery  (surgical technology  learning centre) at Yenepoya Medical College, Deralakatte. This centre is the only one of its kind in the entire D.K. District and caters to five medical colleges.
