It is really unfortunate to know that you are worst affected with genital herpes. It is a sexually transmitted disease and is caused by Herpes Simplex Virus which affects the mucous membranes of the body, especially genitalia and skin. Its symptoms includes fever, body pain, colored and smelly vaginal discharges, colorless vaginal discharges, painful red blisters on vaginal region, labia, cervix and anal regions. Sometimes it is even seen in buttocks and thighs too. Blisters once formed will mature in a matter of 2-3 days and break to leak and cause painful ulcers. These ulcers are similar to other bodily wounds and will start healing in a week or two. Medically there is not treatment available which offers complete cure for herpes. But there are certain antiviral medications which can help in relieving pain and ease the process of wound healing.

It is advised not to wear synthetic clothes while you have herpes ulcers. Nylon inner wears must be avoided at any cost. Loose cotton clothing is the best recommended clothing while you have herpes outbreak. Wounds can be cleaned with mild soap and water. Moreover, tropical anesthetics and cornstarch must not be used to treat the condition as it may adversely affect the conditions. Try to keep genital area dry after bathing. All sorts of sexual activities must be stopped for the time being. It is advised to abstain from sex till you have got all the ulcers gone.
