Chances of getting BACTERIA from CLOROX alcohol wipe.

Resolved Question:

I cleaned my counter with a Clorox wipe and then my friend came over to get a B-12 injection. After washing my hands, I used the alcohol swab to clean the top of the stopper and then placed it on the counter. She picked it up and used it to clean her arm before the injection and now I'm worried that some bacteria got in. I have OCD and germs are a worry for me. She didn't think twice about it. Then I thought that at least some alcohol got on her skin instead of not using any at all. Do you think I should worry? This is STRESSING me out!!!

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I am a little confused, kindly pardon me and confirm if this is what actually happened.
So your friend came to get vitamin b12 injection, and she used the same alcohol swab, you used to clean the counter. Then she got her injection?
Are you worried about your friend or yourself getting the germs?
Kindly confirm and I will get back to you.

Patient replied :

Hello! Sorry about the confusion. I cleaned the counter with a clorox wipe. Then I threw it away. I used a clean alcohol pad to wipe the top of the vial of the B12 then set it on the clean counter. She picked up the alcohol wipe that I used to clean the vial to clean her arm off before the injection. I am worried about her getting the germs from the wipe that I touched to clean off the vial. Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Thank you for your follow-up and clearing my doubts.
No, she does not have chances of developing any infection. Yes, you are right it should not have been used. However, since the alcohol was still fresh in the wipe, it will kill any bacteria that got on it anyway.
I can assure you she won't develop any such infections.
Please feel free to discuss further,
Regards.
