Chances of pregnancy with sex during period and PLAN-B PILL.

Resolved Question:

I'm a healthy 27 year old woman, married and on birth control continuously since 2006. Recently, my pharmacy stopped carrying Trisprintec and switched me to Trinessa, which I've been on for two months now. Because of the packaging change, (I'm a Sunday starter) I thought I was on the placebo week, even though I was on the third week of pills. I missed Sunday,Monday,Tuesday, Wednesdays pills and finally realized on Wednesday evening that I had missed all of those pills. While this was happening, my period had started that Tuesday, light at first then heavier on Wednesday, just like it normally starts. I had intercourse with my husband on Wednesday night, before I realized I had missed the pills. About an hour or so after intercourse, I realized that I had missed the pills, and took Plan B One Step, in addition to taking my birth control pill as directed (one pill per day until Sunday, then throw out pack and start new pack). Its now Thursday, and I've taken my one BC pill as directed, and my period is still going as it usually does during my placebo week. My question is this: I'm super freaked out that I might get pregnant. Given my background above, what do you believe my chances of pregnancy are? How long should I continue to use a backup method of BC? I thought my pregnancy chances might be less than usual because of the intercourse happening during my period and the Plan B, but I'm still freaking out, as I'm not ready for children. Help! This is the first time I've ever missed that many pills and had intercourse.

Thanks for writing to with your health concern.
Your chances of pregnancy are nil, because you were on your period, and because of the Plan B too.
Regarding the backup, continue using it for the first week of the new pill pack.
After that you can rely on the pills, if you diligently take them without missing any more pills.
Do not worry about a pregnancy , and relax.
All the best & Please feel free to discuss further.
