Headache with sinus pressure. MASS in brain?

Resolved Question:

For the past six months I have had sinus pressure and some some weird head stuff and headaches. Went through the whole process of gp and referral to a ent and then a neurologist. The ent determined no sinus related causes and ordered a full ct scan of sinuses which showed nothing. The neurologist did a full neuro exam which was completely normal and I have a family and personal history of migraine. She was not inclined to order any imaging tests as she mentioned that, because I have had an mri for something else about a year ago which was normal and the technician doing the ct scan of the sinuses would have seen much of the brain and reported any abnormalities even if they weren't in the sinuses, i.e. the brain. Do you concur that the person doing the ct of the sinuses would have seen much of the brain and would have noticed if there was a large mass or space occupying lesion?

Hello,

Thank you for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com

I have noted your symptoms and past imaging studies.

I agree that most of the brain would be seen while doing the scan of sinuses and a large mass or tumor would have been noted.

However, I have two reservations- 1. Whether the technician was qualified/competent enough to notice and report the abnormal brain findings.
2. Small abnormalities, especially those below 5 mm in size, such as small tumor or infarct may get missed on a CT scan.

I hope it helps.

Best wishes,
