I had a ski accident. I fell and twisted my knee. No noise or cracking, just a sharp pain on the outside of the knee and leg. Had it checked and X-rayed. No tear, no break. Diagnosis: knee effusion. Two weeks ago.

I am going through physiotherapy, gradually, but some of the 'water' is still in the knee.It goes on and off during the day, and generally impair my walk. I still need crutches to more around.

I am a 55 year old male, athletic, 145 lbs, healthy.

What should I do about the 'water': if it will go, how long can I expect it to stay/should I consult a doctor again and conduct further tests (IRM)?
