Multiple rashes in body, elevated LIVER ENZYMES, ALT.

Resolved Question:

-30 year old Caucasian male

I have developed a rash that initially was on my lateral abdomen and flank which has slowly worsened over the past 2 years. I have developed similar rashes on my arms in multiple places but more pronounced in the medial upper arm. I have developed two spots of the same rash on my right calf. The rashes are plaques of various sizes, erythematous, and scaling. They are quite pruritic and it is difficult not to scratch them. The also sometimes have a burning pain, especially the abdominal plaques. They can be relieved by a corticosteroid but always come back.

My medical history includes hypothyoidism and migraines. I take elavil, synthroid, and occasionally a triptan or pain medicine. My most recent blood tests demonstrated mildly elevated liver function tests, ALT more than AST, both under 100. Elevated LDL and triglycerides. My TSH is wnl. My vitals have been wnl. I have had some recent fatigue, but do not believe it is related as the fatigue has only been present for approximately 2 months and the rash has been present for the last 2 years.

Hello

Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com

I can understand your concern.

This seems to be psoriasis. Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition which presents with erythematous plaques and flaking of skin.

I would recommend application of a strong moisturizing cream over the lesions. That will help in slowly getting the lesions under control.

I would also recommend application of calcipotriol ointment on the lesions. It will slowly help in getting the lesions under control.

Psoriasis can't be completely eliminated but can be kept in check.

Please let me know if you have any queries.

Take care
