Painful urination with blood after sex. What to do?

Resolved Question:

My wife just had a baby, so we’re not supposed to have intercourse for six weeks. But a couple nights ago she was rubbing against me pretty vigorously. We didn’t go as far as ejaculation, but I got stiff, and after a bit I started to feel some sharp pains as she rubbed, so we stopped.

The next day there were a few drops of blood in my urine, at the end of my stream. It happened again in the afternoon. Since then (that was two days ago) I haven't noticed any more blood, but urinating is still painful, especially when the stream is most powerful/highest volume. In fact, it seems to have gotten a little bit more painful each day.

What is this, and what should I do?

Dear sir
Thanks for your query at DoctorSpring.com
It seems you sustained injury to the urethra and urethral opening.
Your symptoms are secondary to the injury. You can apply any emollient to the urethral opening for a week or so and your symptoms shall subside.
Nothing much to worry and stay reassured.
Take care
Sincerely
Rajiv Goel

Dear Dr. Goel,
Thank you very much for your response. To clarify, the pain feels deep inside, where no emollient can reach. Is this still what you are talking about?
Will it heal on its own? How long will it take?
Also, is there any activity I should avoid? Can I exercise (bike riding)? And should I worry about having an erection (no direct activity, just an erection) until it is healed?
Thanks again.

Hello,
Any injury usually takes 2-3 weeks but the injury in urethra longer as the wound is not at rest; it is in contact with urine at all times.
Your symptoms shall take at least 2-3 more weeks to settle down.
You should drink plenty of water and can take cranberry juice to partially improve your symptoms. Bike riding or erections don't hamper the healing.
Take care
Sincerely
Rajiv Goel
