Pin or needle piercing like pain in upper abdomen

Resolved Question:

Sometimes I have a pin-needle like pain in my upper abdomen, its not always, continuous nor too severe, but not comfortable and creating a discomfort and tension. I have this for almost an year time.

I have consulted a Doctor, physical examination, Stool & blood test for H. Bacteria done.
I am type 2 diabetic but well controlled and always normal level, do 30 minutes good jogging.
Stomach gas issues exist sometimes,, not a flat stomach. (Herbal, Antacid, coconut water like options tried , will get relief for sure ). sometimes feel little tired, may be work related too.

In general healthy ... 70 kgs, 5.7 height, active .. but still please help and guide what can be the reason for such pin-needle like pain.

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
Pins and needles does not occur due to gastric issues.
Pins and needles indicates nerve pain.
Since you are a diabetic, nerve pain is a possibility.
You need to take nerve tonics like neurobion forte/meconerve forte along with neurontin for pain relief.
You need to discuss with your doctor before taking these medications.
For stomach gas related issues, try to avoid gas forming food items like beans, cabbage, broccoli and take supplements like Beano/Galto for relief.
I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K

Patient replied :

Sorry, I was finding a right word to explain the Pain, its a burning feeling, especially Day time mainly when I am sitting and working in office. Sometimes I can feel the Gas. Can this be linked to Acidity or Gastric issues or some risks like Ulcers ?

Hi,
Thanks for the clarification.

Yes, burning pain can be linked to acidity related issues. It can be a reflux or a gastritis or ulcer.

An upper GI endoscopy may be done for confirmation.
Medications like esomeprazole for 4-8 weeks would provide good relief.

Discuss with your doctor about endoscopy and the medication I have mentioned.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K
