POLLEN/SEASONAL ALLERGIES with swollen lymph nodes.

Resolved Question:

I have constant pollen / seasonal allergies and recently I've had post nasal drip occurring for the past week or so. It has subsided but now I have a swollen neck and lymph nodes. If I touch the area above my Adam's apple it is tender. This doesn't seem to be affecting the inside of the throat much because i don't have trouble breathing or swallowing. I have started to take Ibuprofen and Allegra-D to treat both the swelling and allergies/PND/Congestion. Do you think the swelling is indicative of some kind of throat infection? If I continue to take these meds should I expect it to go away as I am removing Post Nasal Drip from the equation? Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks for using

I can understand your problem
You are suffering from seasonal allergy, post nasal drip. Now your main concern in neck swelling/lymphnode with tenderness.
Painful neck swelling/lymph node is due to infection only. So you need to start following medication.
Cap. Augementin (amoxicillin + clavulanic acid ) 625 mg two times for five days
Continue allegra-d and ibuprofen for 3 to 5 days.
If swelling still persist then need to be examined and a detailed evualation can be done including USG(Ultrasonograpy) of neck , laryngeal endoscopy if required, FNAC. At present you need to think about all these investigation.
Hope this helps, feel free to ask further queries.

Thank you for your reply.
I actually have an allergy to Penicillin, Amoxycillin and Sulfa. Is there another equivalent medication? Are you able to legally give prescriptions in the U.S.?

If you are allergic to penicillin, you can take Tab. Azithromycin 500 mg once in a day for 5 days.
Online consultation is only advice, it can not be treated as prescription.
Prescription you have to take from local physician only.

Hope this helps, feel free to ask further queries.
Best regards
