Rash, outbreak of red spots on glans after sex.

Resolved Question:

Hi,
I have a minor rash/outbreak of small red spots on my glans under the foreskin, with very minor itching. I have recently had unprotected intercourse, the first time was painful as we did not use lubricant, so it may be a reaction to that but it was one week ago.

Thanks
Greg

Hello

Thanks for your query at DoctorSpring.com. I can understand your concern. I reviewed the picture.

You seem to be having balanitis which is due to the yeast infection.

I would recommend application of clotrimazole cream twice a day for two weeks. That should help you with the infection.

Please let me know if you have any queries. Take care

Hi,
I have been using the clotrimazole cream for 4 weeks.
It does make the symptoms disappear effectively but the rash starts to reappear when irritated by friction and on one occasion a body wash product
Any advice on how to eradicate it completely?
Thanks
Greg

Hello

Thanks for your reply.

If you are getting a recurrent rash its best to check your blood sugar levels once. That might be the cause of recurrent balanitis.

You could send me a picture of it so i could have a look.

Thanks

Hi,
I have had balanitis for a few months now, and have since found out that the cause was intercourse with a girl with thrush.
I have used both clotrimazole cream (4weeks) and hydrocortisone cream (2 weeks) on seperate occasions. Both helped to clear it but not completely. It is now very minor (see picture)
The condition seems to flare up slightly with friction, but generally I keep the area clean and away from products. It just seems to be chemically imbalanced compared to the way it was before the condition started, and I worry it could flare up more with intercourse, or pass something on to the other person. It also has spells of being 'sticky' and spells of being a very shiny dry glaze (as in the picture)
I generally do not have a diet that promotes high blood sugar
I read that antibiotics may be needed if the condition was caused by an infection, so is that the case with the thrush cause? Would I perhaps need to get a course of antibiotics, and would this be from my local doctor?

Appreciate your help, thanks! Greg
