Risk of ARTERIAL CALCIFICATION with increased CALCIUM level.

Resolved Question:

Hi, I recently did a blood test and am worried about my calcium level. My calcium level was 2.70 mmol/L and corrected calcium is 2.58 mmol/L, with Albumin been 49. The only blood test I have previously to compare to was one from 14 years old patientago. Then calcium was 2.46 and corrected calcium was 2.32. The range I have for normal calcium range on my blood test is 2.10 - 2.60 - though I understand some labs use 2.50 as the upper limit. My phosphate level is 1.18 mmol/L. My question is should I be concerned, could this be an indication of Hyperparathyroidism? Is this level a risk to calcification of the arteries? My doctor said it isn't anything to be concerned about but I would like a second opinion as I am on the high end. I have read that even a slight elevation is not good.

Hello,
Thank you for your consult at DoctorSpring.com.
Serum calcium measurements are variable as per body & bone metabolism and food intake. Though your level is on the higher end, it need not be of any worry if you are asymptomatic.
I cannot rule out any other medical disorder with your calcium levels only. You may need a complete physical examination and any imaging as relevently needed.
Hope this is clear. Happy to reply for any more queries.
Regards

Thank you doctor. And one last question. I will from time to time get HIV/AIDS and STD testing as a check up. If I have pet allergies is it possible that they would interfere with the results of HIV/AIDS testing or testing for STD'S? Thanks k you.
