Secondaries in the liver.

Resolved Question:

I had an ultrasound and got this result. Do you think it is cancer or metastasis?

Liver and spleen: The liver shows increased echogenicity consistent
with fatty infiltration. There is a rounded focal lesion in the
anterior right hepatic lobe superiorly, heterogeneous and relatively
hypoechoic, 3.1 x 2.9 x 3 cm in size. There is some internal
vascularity noted, and recommend dynamic CT or MRI evaluation to
further characterize. There may be a second smaller lesion adjacent
measuring 1 cm. The spleen appears normal.

From the ultrasound findings it is difficult to say whether it is malignancy and if so whether it is primary of secondary.

As suggested a triphasic CT scan of the abdomen should be done.
Secondaries (metastasis) of the liver is more common than primary liver cancer.

I would advise you to get a triphasic CT of the abdomen to find what that space occupying lesion is. That will give us a better idea, and we can discuss it further based on the results.

With only the ultrasound scan finding, it is difficult to say whether it is cancerous.

That is why a dynamic CT scan has been suggested.
