I have been having a cough, cold and fever for the last 5 days or so. Now the fever has just subsided but I have developed a swelling on a gland on the side of my neck which is painful to touch. Its not cancer is it??

No, this is not cancer or anything dangerous. These are lymph node in the neck, which get enlarged by the inflammation due to the infection. This is a normal body response which will filter the virus/ bacteria.
The swelling will disappear in a couple of days.
