Swelling with blister in knuckle after wearing ring.

Resolved Question:

I have been wearing my wedding ring and engagement ring for nine months and my engagement ring alone for 18 months before that. Last month my ring finger starting swelling slightly and I developed a blister on the knuckle of my ring finger. When it burst the swelling worsened to the point I couldn't get my rings on and off any longer. The doctor diagnosed eczema and said it was likely to have been infected although there was no sign of infection by that point (about two weeks later). He prescribed me Fucibet and said that the swelling should go down when the eczema has cleared. Three weeks later, the eczema has cleared but my finger is still swollen. It's no longer painful and there's no pressure anymore so it actually feels like the bone has changed shape or there's fluid in there. Is it common for a finger to change shape and remain that way? I'm aware this is a pretty minor ailment but I don't want to have to re-size my rings just to fit over the knuckle as they would then be too big at the base of my finger.

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern
Thanks for sharing the pictures.

As you mentioned that fingers are still swollen, but I can't appreciate a swelling in the pictures. The fingers will need to be examined by your doctor in person to understand the type of swelling and the severity of it.

At times when there is still inflammation, the fingers can be swollen for a longer period of time. It would be advisable to take anti inflammatory agents like Serratiopeptidase which help to bring down the inflammation.

Please let me know if you have any queries.
Take care
