Treatment for small white patch in scrotum without pain or itch.

Resolved Question:

I am 20 years old boy. I was suffering from ringworm in my genital area.On treatment it disappeared.2 months ago i suffered from chicken pox. Now i am ok. But in my scrotum area i am observing a light patch( when noticed carefully ). No other symptoms, no itching.
again my body hairs in some area are becoming weak and rough. There are two small lumps (white) on the scrotum skin.
is this the sign of vitiligo. I am very much afraid and tensed. PLEASE HELP ME....

*** The patch is only noticable in low light with unstretched skin...and when the skin is stretched, this patch seems to be disappeared....in the morning it is clear enough but after taking bath it becomes faint and difficult to observe. I m not understanding what has happened to me...please give me some positive assurance...i am mentally depressed now :(

Hello

Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com.

I can understand your concern.

You could be having the patch secondary to application of quadriderm cream which contains a steroid cream in it. It will resolve slowly on its own if that's the case.

If you can send me a pic of the patch I will be able to understand better what's your concern and help you out accordingly.

Thanks

Here is the picture. But the patch is not clear enough. But I used this cream long time ago. I did not used in the whole scrotum, specially not in this particular area. May it happen that some portions of the scrotum skin slightly lighter in colour than the rest?? and what should I do to bring back my body hairs to natural stage( as they are weak and rough & some are becoming redish yellw (slightly golden type) )?
Am I in early stage of vitiligo??????

Hello

Thanks for your reply.

It does not seem to be vitiligo. It is a hypopigmented patch which has some loss of color. In vitiligo, there is depigmentation that means complete loss of color. So it is not vitiligo.

It seems to be most likely due to the use of the cream. However, since you have given me a history that you have used the cream a long time ago, after how long did the patch come?

Are there any other complaints in that area like itching? Is there a similar loss of color anywhere else ?

For a cream induced patch, no treatment is required and it slowly regains colour on its own.

Thanks.

Patient replied :

actually i am not sure when this pach came...no other complaints in this area now...but some days ago there was some itching problem..and i used to scratch also...some liquid substance used to came out frm the skin. till now no other loss of colour anywhere else like this...(as i had chicken pox 2 months ago, there are some spots still present on my skin..but these are not like this patch) so, for me anything to worry about now?? please advice
Do I need any medication to regain natural pigmentation??

Hello.
Thanks for your reply.
From the history, it just seems to be a post inflammatory hyopigmentation that happens following a rash or other condition of the skin.
I would recommend you to observe it for a week to ten days, if it starts resolving on its own, there is no cause for worry. If it doesn't, it would be best to visit your dermatologist who can physically examine you and advise accordingly.
Take care.

thanx a lot for ur support.
one more thing i want to ask u about my body hairs. how can i make them natural??( as they are weak and rough & some are becoming redish yellw (slightly golden type) )?

Hello.
Thanks for your reply.
Body hair becoming rough, weak and changing color indicates that you have some nutritional deficiency. Most likely zinc or vitamin deficiency.
Do you have any medical conditions?
I would recommend that you visit your doctor once to let him examine you and call for tests if required. Meanwhile you can start with zinc and multi-vitamin supplements.
Take care.
