Woman with Crohns with increased Basophils

Resolved Question:

I have been sick with numerous health issues for over a year and a half now. I am a 40 year old female and was diagnosed with chrons in October (never qould have thought because I am constipated) and had a 14 cm hemangioma removed from my liver, gall bladder and appendix removes in December. Still not gel feeling well and the one thing that won't go away is the lightheadedness that comes and goes. Have been to every specialist and they can't find anything. Went for blood work at my pop and for the last two months my baso and baso % have been elevated. Baso % was 5 and baso absolute was .25. Everything else was normal except my testosterone was low at 9. I do have a bit of health anxiety so even though the soctor was not worried about my baso I am. Help!

Hello,
Thanks for your query at DoctorSpring.

Does the swelling decrease with lying down posture and increase with coughing/ standing?
Is there any localized painful swelling/ tender on touching?

With the available described details, there could be possibility of inguinal
hernia. Inguinal hernia occurs due to weakening in fascia of abdominal wall.

Inguinal hernia could be direct or indirect depending on the location of
protrusion.

Direct inguinal hernia are common in old age while indirect inguinal hernia may occur at any age.

You should consult with general surgeon and should go for thorough check up.
Clinical examination may confirm whether direct or indirect inguinal hernia.

As such there appears to be least possibility of any surgery yet now, if
painless.

Take care,

Patient replied :

I do not have any swelling other then occasional bloating from my chrons. I have been checked for a hernia. I was asking about my elevated baso levels and should I be concerned

Hello,

There need not to be worry about basophilia as condition is self remitting once the crohn's disease gets controlled.

Sincerely,
