Anal canal injury.

Resolved Question:

Yesterdayevening (about 9 hours ago) I wanted to try something different and my girlfriend said if she had to do it I had to do it. So she put a small object in my anus, as we do not usually use toys we do not have one and we used a plastic bottle.

I did not look properly, the plastic bottle had a sharp edge. When she pulled it out it slightly hurt and there was a little tissue on that sharp edge. It was about a mm wide, less then a mm thick, but about a cm long.
I checked the bottle, it can not have gone in further then about 3 cm because of the bottle shoulder, more is impossible. The tissue has to come from the last 3 cm.

Now I do suffer from some anxiety so it might be that that is causing more problems then what that bottle did. But this is what is happening now/last night:

1) I did not sleep at all last night, I had to sit up every 15 minutes to pass gas from my stomach
2) I was nauseated all night and still am nauseated to some extent
3) My stomach hurt all night, but as far as I know it was not my abdomen but it was the gas causing it
4) I feel somewhat dizzy, but I did skip a nights sleep and always feel broken then

5) A little blood when I pass a bowel movement, but not much
6) I do not have a fever, my temperature is normal
7) My abdomen is not in intense pain, only a burning sensation in my rectum
8) I have some heartburn (or how it is called from stomach acid flowing up a little)
9) I don't feel like eating, but that is from the nausea, I will probably eat something in the coming hours
10) My belly muscles are not tight or planked or how it is called
11) Pressing down on my belly does not hurt
12) A bowel movement can give somewhat of a burning sensation, but it is not very painful

As I remember the tissue was white and there was not even a trace of blood on it when I looked at it. The blood only showed during a bowel movement.

I do not feel like visiting my doctor, I will if I develop a fever or intense pain but for now I will not.
After hearing all of this, am I at risk for a perforated colon or will this most likely only be a minor scratch.

Hello and thankyou for approaching DoctorSpring with your query.
I have gone through your case and understand your concern.
From what you have described you have got a cut in your anal canal from the insertion.

The anal canal itself is of 4-5 cms of length. The bottle would have gone upto the anal canal only, and would not have crossed that.
As a result of the cut you are having streaks of blood in stool due to the passage of stools against the cut. A trauma in the anal canal can take upto 3 weeks to heal.
This incident could have caused anxiety in you resulting in increased acid secretion and also gas formation, and is nothing to worry. The dizzy feeling would be due to lack of sleep and not eating. The nausea would also be due to acidity.
The fact that you do not have fever is a good sign. Slight burning and pain will be present as a result of the cut.
You are NOT at a risk for a perforated colon.

I will advise you to do a few things that will help.
1) Sitz baths. Sit in warm water for 20 mins, twice a day, this will help relax the anal sphincter and help in healing.
2) Have a lot of fibre in your diet dietlike leafy vegetables, bananas and fruits to soften your stools, or you can take an OTC laxative for a week to soften your stools
3) If you can feel the cut on the lower end of your anus, you can apply the cream Anovate
4) Take the OTC tab Prilosec, once a day half an hour before a meal for 5 days, this will take care of the acidity
5) Avoid staying hungry as this will only worsen your symptoms of nausea and dizziness.

As of now you have nothing to worry, If you develop fever or the bleeding increases or pain is unbearable, you can visit the doctor.
I hope this has helped.
Feel free to follow up.
Thankyou
