Cause for bitter taste, thick nasal PHELGM.

Resolved Question:

Im a otherwise health 24 year old male. For a few months now Ive had a bitter/ bad taste in my mouth as well as thick mucus or nasal phlegm, cannot tell which it is. My throat tends to hurt in the mornings and after about 6-7 hours after brushing my teeth I can scrape plague off my tongue with my finger. I also began to develop alopecia about the same time these other symptons started; Its been diagnosed. I have bald spot in my hair and my facial hair. Ive got to the Dr. twice and gotten tests done. My blood work all comes out normal and my bald spots have no yeast in them. They also tell me my breathing is fine. What could this all mean?

Patient replied :

It's quite obvious I have alopecia. What I'm curious about is the other symptoms I mentioned. I want to know what the other symptoms are caused by I'm sure that if I get them taken care of my alopecia will go away.

Hello

Thanks for the query at DoctorSpring.com

You seem to be having a condition called alopecia aereata. This is a condition where there is balding over a hairy area in patches. There is no apparent cause to it.

The treatment for alopecia aereata depends on how rapidly the bald patches are progressing. In case of rapidly progressive patches, oral corticosteroids are given to halt the progression. Administration of injections of corticosteroids like triamcinolone acetonide into the bald patch causes hair regrowth.

I would recommend that you visit your dermatologist for the treatment.

Please let me know if you have any queries.

Take care,
Regards.

Hello

Thanks for your reply.

Alopecia aerata, the condition that you have is usually not related to the other symptoms that you have mentioned.

I would recommend consulting a ear nose throat doctor for the other symptoms.

Thanks,
Regards.
