Cause for red lines on stool with burning sensation

Resolved Question:

I had just pooped a couple minutes ago and when I pooped there were red lines on the stool, if I remember correctly they were a slightly darker red but still light [almost a slightly slightly darker crimson color] and I had a burning feeling for a little bit after I had pooped, the burning feeling is almost gone now.

Hello and thankyou for approaching DoctorSpring with your query.
From what you have described you seem to have an anal fissure.
In you case it is more likely an anal fissure. Anal fissure is a tear in the mucosa in the lower part of the anal canal. It occurs from trauma, usually with the passing of stools which causes the mucosa to stretch more than normal or due to hard stools. It occurs commonly in individuals and is nothing to worry. An acute fissure usually heals in 6 weeks.
Patient will usually complain of blood streaks in stools, pain on passing stools, burning or itching after passing stools.
Once the tear has occurred it is common for it to repeat. Has you need to take care and precautions to prevent future trauma, so that the tear heals, and does not repeat.

Anal fissure can be prevented by taking proper care of your bowel habits and diet. You need to soften your stools and hence diet is important. My advise to you would be
1) Eat a high fibre diet, leafy vegetables, bananas
2)Drink a lot of water
3)Avoid straining while passing stools
4)Avoid constipation and if you have diarrhea get it treated soon.
5)Keep the lower anal canal clean and dry.
6) Avoid trauma to the anal canal

Therapies that will prove helpful are, sitting in a sitz bath with warm water in a tub for 20 mins a day.
You can take Metamucil supplements
Applying local lignocaine gel after passing stools if you have pain.

However if your condition continues for more than a week with no improvement, you will need to meet a physician

I hope this has helped, feel free to follow up.

Thankyou.
