RH-negative carrying RH-positive baby. ANTI-D shot.

Resolved Question:

Hi,

I am RH negative carrying a RH positive baby, week 28+4.
I will get a shot of anti-D next week to protect the baby.

In the instructions it said that it is not to be used on women who already developed anti-bodies. Do I need to check that right before or is the first test ok to trust? (Got a test around week 11, and I think another around week 23.)

Thank you!

Hello
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
If you have already developed antibodies, there is no point in having a shot of Anti - D injection.
You should repeat the ICT ( Indirect Coombs Test ) before going for the shot.
Only if it is negative ( meaning that you have not yet developed antibodies ), you need the injection.
All the best
Please feel free to discuss further.
Regards.

Thank you!
Here the routine is not to do that I found out this morning. Can it cause any harm to the baby, or myself, if i take it and have developed antibodies?
Kind regards,
Malin

Hello.
It can do no harm.
It would mean a waste of a couple of thousand rupees, and that matters !
Regards.
