BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Sumanth A is a practising Pediatrician and a Pediatric Pulmonologist with an experience of 15 years.

Dr. Sumanth Amperayani’s expertise in the field of Paediatrics clubbed with his patience and highly ethical practices have won him the trust and cooperation of his young patients. 

His approach is in line with the holistic approach at The Capstone Clinic. For instance, he believes that 95% of children or situations, do not warrant antibiotics to cure their health problems and over-medication should be avoided amongst children. He is of the firm opinion that a good paediatrician should be able to advise parents on best ways to care for their children during sickness or ill-health, through the right kind of mental, physical and nutritional support rather than just depending on medication.

Dr Sumanth’s services include baby clinic, regular paediatric care clinic, lactation counselling for new mothers, vaccination advice and administration, speciality clinic for allergy and asthma in children and teaching of proper technique of usage of metered dose inhalers, counselling for childhood obesity related issues.

He regularly attends conferences and certification programs to ensure he stays well informed in the world of Paediatrics. Since 2011, Dr. Sumanth Amperayani has been teaching Paediatricians studying in the Kanchi Kamakoti Childs Trust Hospital. He has also spoken at several state conferences where he has been invited to present a paper, as a panelist or as the keynote speaker.

Dr. Sumanth’s articles have been extensively published in various national and international journals. He has also co-authored a number of books, which serve as textbooks in various academic institutions - Paediatric Infectious Diseases, Treatment and Prognosis in Paediatrics and Frequently Asked Questions in Paediatrics. He has also contributed chapters in various publications.

Research has always been Dr.Sumanth's forte and a few of the studies he conducted have helped in advancing paediatrics. In 2014, as a researcher, under the banner of The Childs Trust Medical Research Foundation, he completed a pilot study on Iron Deficiency Anemia, Vitamin D Status, and Health Awareness among rural children living in Tamil Nadu. His findings are being considered by the Tamil Nadu State Planning Commission.
