Anal warts in a child

Hello. My son is 3 and a half years old. In the middle of December I found what appeared to be either a wart or skin tag between his penis and scrotum. I pointed it out to his pediatrician who said it can happen and did not appear concerned. However within the next several weeks I found what looked like a cluster of growths around his anus. I researched it and thought it looked like Molluscum. However, I looked closely at it again tonight and really started second guessing that. I took pictures and contacted my aunt who is a nurse. She seemed concerned and said it looked like too many to be molluscum and said he needs to go to the doctor's tomorrow. As I started searching more, I became horrified by what I was finding. Can someone please give your thoughts on what this could be because my mind is running wild with awful thoughts. I am calling the doctor tomorrow morning but just can't stop thinking about this. Thank you.

The pictures suggest presence of viral warts in the anal region. It is not very common in this age group. Hence a diagnostic confirmation is required. The warts in anal region are usually transmitted by sexual contact with a person having warts. But other modalities of transmission can occur.

This need to be treated by his Doctor, I would recommend that you visit his doctor to have a look as soon as possible and to probe into this matter. This could be a sensitive issue and it is better handled by your Doctor. The good news is that this can be treated.
